Laura Capps will announce her candidacy for District 1 Supervisor at a kick-off event today, where she will run against incumbent Das Williams.
Ms. Capps confirmed Saturday the event will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Mission Rose Garden.
She currently serves on the Santa Barbara Unified School as vice president.
Cannabis and its place in Santa Barbara County will be a key issue for the two Democrats, with Mr. Williams being a vocal advocate, while Ms. Capps is pro-cannabis, although she believes that too much exists close to schoolchildren.
Her mother is former 24st District Representative Lois Capps.
