
William “Bill” Lee, of Santa Barbara, California passed away on July 16, 2019.
Born in a little village named Cedarhurst, Long Island, New York, Bill was the second of three children of Clarence and Catherine Mordecai Lee.
His late sisters were Barbara Bernstein and Cathy Meyers.
In 1930, at the age of 10, he was enrolled in Horace Mann School for Boys in New York. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he met and married his late wife, Elaine Bramley Lee.
Bill served in the Air Force in WWII as a pilot. Since the war, Bill was involved in building Hobie skateboards, furniture for Las Vegas hotels, canoes for Disneyland, sailboats, including the predecessor to the Hobie catamaran.
He is survived by his two sons Jeff and Tim, daughter Wendy, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Bill’s passing is truly the end of a generation which was full of life, creative and unique individuals.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 11:00 am at the Welch-Ryce-Haider Chapel, 450 Ward Drive,
Santa Barbara, California.
