I have to speak out because I can’t stand it anymore. I came from Austria at age 13 and wound up in Louisiana, quite a contrast. I quickly learned that some people teach you racism in the U.S. I never understood why. Racism is something taught, not inherently in our DNA.
I was 100 percent color blind when I came to the U.S. How can anybody not admire and love Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Oprah Winfrey, Whitney Houston, B.B. King, Condi Rice and hundreds of thousands more African Americans who are so great? Also don’t ignore all other ethnicities, from Eskimos to Native Americans to Asians, Arabs, whoever. Who doesn’t admire Geronimo or Sitting Bull?
To perpetuate this racism over and over and over again seems so shallow. Try to elevate yourself to a higher level, if that is possible. I guess in politics hatred works, but that doesn’t make our world, our city, our community or our youth any better. I say enough already
