Let me get this right. First Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to tax us for the water that is in a sense free, since it rains and the water is caught in basins.
Next he wants us to support the water companies with millions of tax dollars to upgrade private businesses.
Why not let those water districts, which make excellent profits, spend their own money fixing their problems? Why should all California taxpayers pay for and support a few districts that have old equipment that should have been upgraded years ago?
If Mr. Newsom is so concerned, rather than tax us, let his businesses buy up those water districts and improve them so he can make more wine with the water to sell to those who complain about bad water.
My wife and I have under-sink water filters. Most cost around $100 and can be installed by someone that is handy with a few tools. Just change the filter every six months.
That is the easy fix; the hard fix is forcing the taxpayers to ante up to fix an issue we have not caused and have no control over, and donate big bucks to political insiders, mostly Democrats.
That means it is payback time, and Mr. Newsom wants to pay back those water districts.
Sorry. No more taxes.
