So Andy Caldwell is running for Salud Carbajal’s congressional seat! I feel a little saddened. When Ralph Nader was asked why he didn’t run for president, he stated he would be more effective on the outside. Kind of feel the same here.
I voted for Salud, but nevertheless enjoy Andy’s perspective on local issues though rarely agreeing with him.
This is a tough district to run in, given the north vs. south paradigm. And, since our local representative must represent all of us, there has to be some recognition and acceptance of more left-of-center positions if one is going to get elected here. I don’t think you can move far to the right (or remain silent on the more caustic tweets of our president) in this district and get elected.
Are you sure you want to do this, Andy? Can you bridge that political divide? I probably won’t be voting for you, but I am wishing you the best of luck. Really. Should you lose, I guess I’ll still have your customary editorials to ponder over while having my morning coffee.
