When and where to see the stars at SBIFF
The red carpets are nearly ready, State Street is buzzing just a bit more and the Arlington Theatre is ready for quite the workout as the 34th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival is set to kick off tonight at 8 p.m.
While there are dozens of buzzworthy films to take in, let’s be real — everyone wants to know how and when they might be able to bump into a star or two.
Here is a look at when and where some of film’s biggest stars will be, starting today and running through Feb. 9:
Thursday, Jan. 31, 8 p.m., Arlington Theatre: Outstanding Directors AwardThis will feature Spike Lee (“BlacKkKlansman”), Alfonso Cuaron (“Roma”), Yorgos Lanthimos (“The Favourite”), Adam McKay (“Vice”), Pawel Pawlikowski (“Cold War”).
Friday, Feb. 1, 8 p.m., Arlington Theatre: Outstanding Performer AwardThe winner will be announced the night of, but past honorees include Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Jennifer Lawrence and many other A-list celebrities.
Saturday, Feb. 2, 3 p.m., Arlington Theatre: American Riviera AwardViggo Mortensen to receive the honor.
Saturday, Feb. 2, 8 p.m., Arlington Theatre: Maltin Modern Master AwardGlenn Close to receive the honor.
Sunday, Feb. 3, 8 p.m., Arlington Theatre: Montecito AwardMelissa McCarthy to receive the honor.
