The SBCC men’s basketball team finally put an end to its tough 2019-20 season on Friday but not on a positive note, as the Vaqueros ended their campaign with an 87-81 loss at Moorpark.
This is now the third time in the last seven years that SBCC (1-25, 0-12) has ended the season with just one win.
The press release provided by SBCC athletics did not include any quotes from head coach Morris Hodges nor any players.
Sophomore Joseph Holden, in his final game in a Vaquero uniform, scored a team-high 25 points, 23 of which came in the second half.
Adrian Juilland-Johnson flirted with a triple-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
SBCC 81, HANCOCK 75
The Vaqueros totaled a season-high 14 makes from beyond the arc to edge out their conference rival on the road.
SBCC (15-8, 3-5) was led by Alondra Jimenez who scored 21 points. SBCC will learn its playoff fate Sunday.
WESTMONT 7, SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN 6 (10 INNINGS)

The Warriors won their first game of a doubleheader against San Diego Christian in dramatic fashion. Trailing by four runs in the 10th inning, Westmont scored five in the bottom half of the frame to win 7-6.
In the second game, James Kruger went the distance for the second start in a row. The junior transfer right-handed hurler allowed just four hits over the seven-inning shutout while striking out nine batters.
WESTMONT SCHEDULE CHANGE
Due to possible rain today, Westmont’s doubleheader against San Diego Christian will begin at 9 a.m. as opposed to 11 a.m. to attempt to play both games before possible bad weather sets in.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
CARPINTERIA 6, VILLANOVA PREP 4
The Warriors opened up the match with three runs in the first inning, propelling them to a two-run victory on the road Friday.
Junior Issac Cervantes picked up his first win of the season, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three. Freshman Erich Goebel picked up the save.
SBCC 14, SANTA MONICA 6
Emily LoneTree went 3-3 with three RBIs and hit SBCC’s first homer of the year on Friday as the Vaqueros totaled 14 hits in a 14-6 win over Santa Monica 14-6.
Tied at 6-6 heading into the sixth frame, the Vaqueros (2-6) scored eight runs to secure their first home victory of the season.
SBCC 8, FULLERTON 1
The Vaqueros won their seventh straight match Friday after a dominant victory over Fullerton.
SBCC (7-1) enjoyed straight-set victories in singles by No. 1 Kelly Coulson and No. 6 Sydney Paillon.
FOOTHILL TECH 12, CARPINTERIA 6
Carpinteria’s doubles team of Ian McCurry/Esteban Zapata swept their matches Friday in a loss to Foothill Tech. In singles, Austin Stone also swept his matches for the Warriors to round out the scoring.

SBCC opened up its season Friday but dropped its two opening contests.
After being swept by Fresno City, the Vaqueros No. 1 doubles team comprised of Ava Crawford/Kelissa Lemoine won scored SBCC’s first point of the year by rallying to win 13-21, 21-12, 15-9. SBCC’s No. 3 team won the second point in the loss to Cabrillo.
