A day after wrapping up the Western State Conference individual tournament, the SBCC women’s tennis team was named the No. 5 seed for the CCCAA’s Southern California Regional, the CCCAA announced on Sunday.
The Vaqueros (16-3) will open postseason action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at fourth-seeded Fullerton. The Falcons were the fourth-place team from the Orange Empire Conference, a conference that landed all of the region’s top four seeds.
The teams met in mid-March at the Pershing Park courts, with Fullerton picking up a 6-3 victory, despite SBCC having played two matches in the previous three days, and were missing several starters due to injuries.
SBCC claimed the WSC team title with a perfect 14-0 mark, their first team title since 2001.
MEN’S TENNIS
UCSB 4, UC DAVIS 0
Fours were the number of the day for the Gauchos, as they claimed their fourth straight victory, and took their fourth straight Big West opener in a win over the Aggies.
After taking the doubles point, the Gauchos (10-5, 1-0) claimed three singles wins to clinch the win, leaving the other three matches unfinished.
Anders Holm scored a 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to start the run, followed by Nicolas Moreno de Alboran’s 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Victor Krutzev then clinched the victory at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
UCSB wraps up its regular season on Monday with a big matchup against Cal, starting at 2 p.m.

UC DAVIS 9, UCSB 0
The Gauchos dropped to 1-5 in Big West play (7-30 overall) with a home loss to the Aggies, giving up eight runs in the final three innings, inclduing five in the seventh inning.
Maci Fines and Kayla Krantz had two hits each in the loss for UCSB.
