UCSB’s Zach Smith saw his run at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships come to an end on Sunday, as a third-round total of 2-over 74 left him four shots short of the cut at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
Smith finished the weekend with a three-round total of 10-over 226, part of an 11-way tie for 65th.
His round on Sunday saw him pull to even par after an eagle on the 16th hole, but he finished the round with back-to-back bogeys on the final two holes, sealing his fate.
Despite missing the cut, Smith became only the second Gaucho to advance to the tournament, and the first to do so through the regionals. He also picked up a PING NCAA All-West Region team selection after Saturday’s action.
