The No. 3 UCSB men’s volleyball team beat No. 9 Pepperdine for the second time in five days with a three-set sweep Wednesday.
The Gauchos won by set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-17.
Casey McGarry totaled 33 assists and finished with a .500 hitting percentage. Randy DeWeese finished with 15 kills, Grady Yould added 12, while Roy McFarland had 12 kills.
SBCC 3, MOORPARK 0
The No. 4 Vaqueros won their fourth straight and notched their first sweep of the season over No. 7 Moorpark Wednesday night.
SBCC (4-2, 1-0 in the WSC) outlasted the Raiders (6-2, 1-1) in the first set 27-25 before cruising to victory. The final two set scores were 25-19, 25-20.
Calvin Sanborn had a team-high 12 kills. Trent Lingruen had nine kills and finished with a .467 hitting percentage. Keoni Thiim notched eight kills, three aces and five digs and Kyle Merchen had three kills and 35 assists.
HIGH SCHOOOL BASEBALL
DOS PUEBLOS 4, CAMARILLO 3
The Chargers finished the Easton Tournament with a record of 3-1-1 following Wednesday’s home win over Camarillo.
Evan Steinberger went 1-for-3 and drove in two, while Jackson Greaney also had an RBI. Connor Gliessner went four innings, allowing two runs and striking out two. Cole Philip picked up the win, throwing two innings of relief and allowing an unearned run.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CAL POLY 56, UCSB 52
The Gauchos roared back from a seven-point deficit to enter the fourth quarter, though went scoreless in the final 2:20 of the game in their loss to the Mustangs.
Ila Lane finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds, Coco Miller had 16 and Danae Miller had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Gauchos shot just 34% from the field and made only six of their 23 attempts from deep (26%).
