Olisa Nwachie hit one of two free throws with six seconds to play, then helped his Westmont men’s basketball team defend against a last-gasp 3-point attempt in Thursday night’s 75-74 Golden State Athletic Conference victory over 18th-ranked William Jessup in Rocklin.
Nwachie had a game-high 24 points for the southern Warriors (13-6, 7-4), while Matt Ramon had 12 points and Maxwell Hudgins 11 points.
Hudgins and Gyse Hulsebosch hit three 3-pointers each in the win, with Hulsebosch finishing with nine points; Ramon added nine rebounds, and Jordan Spaschak dished out six assists.
Antonio Lewis led Jessup (16-7, 7-4) with 23 points, one of five northern Warriors in double figures.
Westmont led by as much as 10 points with 2:52 to play in the first half, only for Jessup to go on a 10-0 run going into the break.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
UC IRVINE 74, UCSB 68
Coco Miller had 19 points in a losing effort for the Gauchos in a Big West road loss to the Anteaters in Irvine.
Danae Miller added 16 points for UCSB (4-15), while Bri Anugwom added 12 points for the Gauchos, who were out-scored 23-18 over the final 10 minutes, 46 seconds.
Jordan Sanders had a game-high 28 points for Irvine (14-4).
WESTMONT 58, WILLIAM JESSUP 39
The visiting Warriors (16-6, 9-3) used the long-range shooting of Lauren Tsuneichi to score a GSAC road victory in Rocklin.
Tsuneishi hit five 3-pointers as part of her game-high 17 points for Westmont, which also got 13 points and 12 rebounds from Sydney Brown.
Creonah Bryant was the lone player for Jessup (16-7, 7-5) in double figures with 12 points.

SAN MARCOS 50, CABRILLO 49
Tommy Condon had 15 points to lead the Royals to a tight Channel League road victory over the Conquistadores.
Isaiah Hicks hit a key 3-pointer down the stretch for San Marcos (14-8, 8-2), who finished second in the Channel race, two games behind Santa Barbara.
Cabrillo finished fourth in the Channel race at 3-7 (9-18 overall).
SANTA BARBARA 69, LOMPOC 45
The Dons finished off a perfect Channel campaign with a road victory over the Braves at Paisola Pavilion.
Bryce Warrecker led Santa Barbara (25-3, 10-0) with 18 points, while Jackson Hamilton added 16 points in the win.
Aiden Douglas and Will Rottman had nine points each.
DOS PUEBLOS 53, SANTA YNEZ 43
Kelen Pisacane had a game-high 12 points for the Chargers in a low-scoring, defensive battle in Channel play.
Jaron Rillie added 10 points for Dos Pueblos (12-16, 6-4), who finished third in the Channel standings; Jack Hogan and Andrew Guardino had eight points each.
Siggy Porter led last-place Santa Ynez (10-16, 1-9) with 10 points, while Ryan Rennick, Merek Mercado and Nate Rogers had nine points each.

A trio of Owls — Dylan Young, Suleiman Bah and Fatta Abdul — each scored two goals in the Owls’ Frontier League victory over the Lancers.
Josh Baron added the other goal for Laguna Blanca in the victory.
