
The No. 11 Westmont men’s basketball team finished its Northern California road trip with 77-64 victory over William Jessup Saturday afternoon.
Westmont improved to 17-1 on the season and 6-0 in the GSAC, opening conference play with five of their first six games on the road.
Westmont held Jessup to 33.9% shooting for the game and never trailed. Westmont jumped ahead 9-2 to open the game, though Jessup reduced its deficit to 21-19 before Westmont closed the half with a 14-2 run.
Jessup was able to pull within six points with 10:46 remaining, though that was as close as it would get.
Four Westmont players scored in double figures, led by Abram Carrasco, who led all scorers with 20. It was Carrasco’s third straight 20-plus point performance and fourth in his last five games.
Hunter Sipe scored 13, Jared Brown had 12 and Gyse Hulsebosch added 11.

Newbury Park 86, Carpinteria 51
Andrew Wilson scored a game-high 36 points to lead the Panthers over the Warriors on Saturday.
For Carpinteria, Gabe Medel scored 14 points and Dylan O’Neill added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Crespi 69, Dos Pueblos 37
The Chargers fell to 5-13 on the season with its loss Saturday night.
Kael Riker and Samual Huang each scored seven points in the losing effort.
Thacher 64, Cate 59 (3 OT)
The Rams opened league play in thrilling fashion, though they were unable to come out on top in their game against the Toads.
Cate fell behind 20-6 at the end of the first quarter, but only trailed 28-25 at the half. The teams were tied at 45 when the fourth quarter buzzer sounded, though four Cate starters fouled out in regulation. Coach Andy Gill credited his bench, namely Tyler Tom and John Shelburne, for sparking the club and keeping them in the game.

Jacqueline Richardson notched a goal on an assist from Bea Lujan to held the Owls earn a draw against the Toads. Laguna Blanca is now 2-3-1 on the season, including 1-0-1 in league play.

Santa Barbara 66, Pioneer 63
Athena Saragoza finished with 20 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Dons over Pioneer on Saturday.
Caia Trimble added 20 points and six assists, making 10 of her 17 shot attempts. Briana Trujillo added 13 points in the win.
Men’s Basketball
Oxnard 98, SBCC 66
The Condors (2-12, 1-1 in the WSC North) knocked down 11 three pointers to snap their nine-game losing streak against the Vaqueros on Saturday.
Oxnard shot 59.3% from the floor and held SBCC (2-15, 0-2) to just 32.8% shooting, including 5-22 from deep. Malik Paton scored 17 points, making seven of his eight attempts off the bench for the Condors, who had six players score in double digits. Peterson Wotkyns scored a season-high 17 points for the Vaqueros, while Carlos Arevalo and Adrian Julliand-Johnson each scored 13 points.
