
90, passed away, April 9th, in the company of her children in Santa Barbara, CA her home of 50 years.
Cathryn was born Sarah Cathryn Cline to Joseph “Art” and Estella Cline on a farm outside Hennessey, OK on September 26, 1922. She was the youngest of five siblings, all who predecease her, Loren Cline, Fern Nelson, Cleo Calderhead, and James Cline.
She was a 1940 graduate of Hennessey High School, serving as president of her class and football queen. She married her husband, Bob Loewen the same year. Cathryn and Bob lived in both Oklahoma and Alameda, CA in the early years of their marriage.
They owned and operated Loewen’s Cafeteria in Enid, Ok from 1955-1963. When they relocated to Santa Barbara, where Bob became a successful realtor and Cathryn went to work at Copper Coffee Pot and later JC Penney’s. Bob passed away in Santa Barbara at the age of 63 in 1981. Cathryn stayed busy with her nearby family and friends and visits from loved ones who enjoyed traveling to Santa Barbara to see her. They were blessed with four children John Arthur (Mona) of Waukomis, OK; James Robert (deceased), Sue Loewen Delaney (Don) of Santa Ynez, CA and Jan Elizabeth Early (Bob) of Santa Barbara, CA. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Ron Loewen (Kitty) of Knoxville, TN; Bob Loewen (Dawn) of Austin, TX; Jennifer Loewen Cavill (Tom) of Milford, OH and Sean Delaney (fiancé Kristen) of Santa Barbara, CA and great grand children Annie & Jessie Loewen; Lucy and Will Loewen; Loewen, Camden and Ayden Cavill.
Cathryn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her sweet disposition. The family would like to express special thanks to the nursing staff of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital 4 Central and all the staff of Serenity House Santa Barbara for their care and support. Donations to Serenity House, Santa Barbara would be deeply appreciated.
A memorial and burial service will be held in Hennessey, OK in early June.
