At the age of 83, our beloved mother went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 22, 2013 in San Jose, CA. Linda was born May 7, 1929 in Santa Barbara, CA to Federico Lopez & Jeronima Salas Lopez. She grew up on the infamous Vine Ave. and attended Santa Barbara local schools. She is survived by her 10 children; Adrianna (Louis) Mendoza, Jesse Cortez, Gracie Cortez, Manuel (Cindy) Cortez, Leticia Martinez, Richard Cortez, Miguel Cortez, Fred Cortez, Floyd (Becki) Cortez & Dolores (Ernest) Cortez-Fritz, her 42 Grandchildren, 87 Great-Grand children & two Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her children’s father Serilo P. Cortez and leaves behind two brothers Reyes (Bertha) Lopez & Leo (Connie) London. She loved reality TV, true story & western movies, listening to music especially Mexican music, which you would find her dancing & singing along to, and Eddie Holman. She enjoyed sharing stories & receiving calls from family & friends. Above all, she faithfully served our Lord & prayed the rosary twice a day. We would especially like to thank our sister Letty, her son Cruz Jr, daughters Cita & Angela, and grandson Jacob, for caring for our mother. We appreciate all the love, care, & commitment you put into caring for Mom. We know it was a great challenge and will forever be grateful. Thank you so much Martinez family! Mom will also be missed by her beloved companion Mariah, her 4-year-old Chihuahua. Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that you’re no longer in pain and free to soar.
