ORCUTT A Santa Maria man was arrested after he attempted to evade authorities following a traffic stop Tuesday morning in the 5000 block of Orcutt Road in Orcutt, authorities said.
The traffic stop was conducted just after 9 a.m. The driver, Tyler Phillips, 28, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and fled while driving a stolen vehicle, said Kelly Hoover, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Phillips was seen riding on Orcutt Road a few blocks from Lakeview Junior High School. The school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution and Mr. Phillips was eventually located in the backyard of a residence on Siler Road, Ms. Hoover said.
Mr. Phillips was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on his arrest warrant. He is also facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and providing false information to a peace officer. He is being held on $45,000 bail.
