SANTA BARBARA A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred early Tuesday near Oak Park, police said.
At 4:43 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the intersection of Quarantina and Ortega streets to a report of a bloody female on the ground. The victim, a woman whose name was withheld, was transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, said Anthony Wagner, spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Detectives served a search warrant at the crime scene and located additional evidence. Following interviews at the police department and hospital, Emelio Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, being under the influence of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance and providing false government documents, Mr. Wagner said.
Police said the attack was not a random act and that Mr. Hernandez and the victim were known to each other.
