GOLETA A 21-year-old Goleta man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges stemming from an incident that occurred earlier this month in Goleta, authorities said.
On March 19, deputies responded to a residence in Goleta to investigate a report of a missing juvenile. Two hours after deputies took the initial report, the juvenile returned home with multiple serious injuries. It was determined her boyfriend had severely beaten her, brandished a weapon and threatened her, said Raquel Zick, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim, whose identity was withheld, was treated at a local hospital for her injuries and has since been released.
Deputies wrote an arrest warrant for the suspect, Gilberto Guajardo, but were unable to locate him. A follow-up investigation was later conducted and Mr. Guajardo was tracked to Ventura County. He was arrested March 31 on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including domestic violence with injury, terrorist threats, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with force likely to cause great bodily injury. His bail was set at $500,000.
