CARPINTERIA A 25-year-old Ventura man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday morning on Highway 101 near Casitas Pass Road within the construction zone, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 6:35 a.m. Saturday. The California Highway Patrol responded to and discovered a black 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck had come to rest on its roof in the center divider after rolling over just south of the Linden Avenue overcrossing.
The truck was heading south on the 101 when the driver, whose identity was withheld, lost control of the vehicle, according to the CHP.
“The driver, unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt, was partially ejected from the Ford when it overturned,” according to the CHP news release. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Southbound 101 was closed for approximately one hour and 45 minutes following the crash.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
