SANTA BARBARA A man suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries in an attack on the city’s Eastside, police said.
At approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, police received multiple 911 calls reporting the incident. Units were dispatched to the 300 block of North Milpas Street, though it was believed that the attack occurred elsewhere, said Anthony Wagner, spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
“The victim is classified as a Latino male, unknown age, with serious injuries,” Mr. Wagner told the News-Press.
He was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and police were able to contact the victim and take down an incident statement. The victim was conscious and alert when talking with police, Mr. Wagner said.
The suspect or suspects involved remained outstanding Tuesday night. Police were canvassing the area to develop a “fact pattern to aid the investigation,” Mr. Wagner said.
Further information on the attack was withheld. It was unclear if the incident was gang-related. An investigation is ongoing.
