
83, died at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on July 5, 2013. Rafael was born on June 19, 1930 in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, México. He has been a resident of Santa Barbara since 1966 when he arrived with his wife and family. Rafael worked as a machine operator for Mission Linen for over thirty years before his retirement.
Rafael was an avid f an of the Los Angeles Dodgers and his favorite soccer team was el Atlas. Rafael was a strong provider for his family and instilled in each of his children a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. Rafael enjoyed telling bromas (jokes) and was well versed in dichos (proverbs). He had a passion for tango music especially those tangos of Hugo Del Carril of Argentina and for the romantic music of Trios including Los Panchos, Los Dandys and others. He especially enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren.
Rafael is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Isabel Martín del Campo; 11 children, Lupe (Ramon), Magdalena (Julio), Rafael Jr.,(Carmen), José (Juanita), Arturo (Corina), Adriana (Alfredo), Francisco (Yvette), Leonardo (Tricia), Ana (Luis), Luis F. (Chanda), Jesus (Maria de los Angeles); 27 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 7:00 pm, and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 10:00 am, at our Lady of Guadalupe Church, immediately followed by the graveside service at Calvary Cemetery.
