
A memorial service and scattering of ashes will take place on Monday, January 20 for Marcey Pepper McPherson, grand-daughter of Henry “ Hap” Hazard and daughter of Lucille Hazard Campbell. Marcia died November 17, 2013 at her home in Abilene, Texas.
She was born Nov. 21, 1945, in Santa Cruz, California and moved to Santa Barbara with her family in 1955.
Marcey graduated from San Marcos High School in 1963 and attended University of California, Santa Barbara and California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, receiving BA and MA degrees.
She worked as a Social Worker for the County of Santa Barbara until she retired and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her clients.
Marcey was also an accomplished private pilot and a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, participating in many missions.
Marcey was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Abilene Senior Center.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Richard and Lucille Campbell; and her brother, Lowell Pepper.
Marcey is survived by her two sons, Luke McPherson and Matt McPherson; sister, Penny Lionello; brothers, Pete, Ross, and Tony Pepper; and seven grandchildren.
The memorial service and scattering of ashes will take place at 3pm, Monday January 20, departing from the Sea Landings dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. The service will take approximately an hour. Anyone wishing to attend should email petepepper@aol.com for additional information.
