Metropolitan Theatres has decided to temporarily close its cinemas following the recommendations of the California Department of Public Health in curtailing further spreading of the coronavirus.
According to Natalie Eig, the theater chain’s vice president of marketing and communications, the seven Metropolitan Theatres located between Santa Barbara and Goleta will close following new recommendations released by health officials Tuesday.
The recommendations call for all Santa Barbara County bars, nightclubs, pubs, breweries, and wineries to close immediately. Officials also suggest that restaurants and other food facilities with on-site dining transition to only offering delivery and take-out service.
Metropolitan Theatres will assess at the end of the month whether or not the theater closures will continue, and will inform its guests of the decision on the Metropolitan Theatres website.
“As soon as we have a better idea we’ll post about it on our website and alert our guests,” Ms. Eig said.
