A motorcyclist was found dead Friday morning after crashing into a drainage culvert on East Valley Road in Montecito, authorities said.
At approximately 6:52 a.m., California Highway Patrol units were dispatched to East Valley Road just east of Glen Oaks Drive. At some point Thursday night or Friday morning, a 47-year-old man was westbound on his 2018 BMW motorcycle when he went off the roadway for an unknown reason, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, the CHP said.
Portions of East Valley Road were shut down for a time Friday morning.
Investigation of the crash is continuing.
