LOMPOC A mountain lion cub was rescued Wednesday afternoon when her mother was nowhere to be found.
Santa Barbara County Animal Services spokeswoman Stacy Silva said the cub was found by a property owner in Cebada Canyon on Tuesday. The property owner waited 24-hours before reporting the abandoned cub, to see if the cub’s mother was nearby, as recommended by animal services.
“When we felt like mom wasn’t coming back we went and picked her up,” said Ms. Silva. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife took custody of the cub on Thursday. They will rehabilitate her and either release her back into the wild, if she is physically fit, or transfer her to a sanctuary.
