Santa Barbara MTD has reached a final agreement with the Teamsters Local 186 bargaining unit, MTD officials announced Friday.
This marks the end of six months of collective bargaining between MTD and the Teamsters representing bus operators and maintenance personnel. Union members voted in favor of a new three-year collective bargaining agreement covering wages, medical and dental benefits, pensions and working conditions, according to a news release.
“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to reach a fair agreement with our employees who do so much to keep our community connected. We believe this contract honors the hard work of our employees while continuing to steward MTD’s financial health,” said MTD General Manager Jerry Estrada.
The new agreement goes into effect retroactively to July 1, 2019.
