
SANTA BARBARA A Santa Barbara woman has been charged with first degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred April 8 on the city’s Westside.
Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday that a felony complaint has been filed against Leinani McClintic, 41, of Santa Barbara. The complaint charges Ms. McClintinc with willful, premeditated and deliberate first degree murder in the stabbing death of 76-year-old Hiilani Mikaitis, of Santa Barbara. It is further alleged that Ms. McClintic personally used a deadly weapon causing death, Ms. Dudley said.
Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Von Deroian set bail for Ms. McClintic at $2 million. Her arraignment was continued to April 13. The case has been assigned to Senior Deputy District Attorney Ben Ladinig, Ms. Dudley said.
