Shaelan Murison posted her second hat trick of the season as the UCSB women’s soccer team blasted the University of Hawaii, 4-1, in a Big West Conference match in Honolulu.
Behind Murison’s big day the Gauchos improved to 3-1-2 in conference play.
Murison made her presence felt early, scoring in the ninth minute, her 14th goal of the season.
She’d also add the team’s second goal in the 28th minute, taking a pass from Lauren Hess, making her way through multiple players and sending a shot past Hawaii goalkeeper Alexis Mata.
Hawaii made things interesting with a penalty kick in the 51st minute, but Jessica Wright notched a goal in the 79th minute to go back up by two goals, with Murison capping the scoring with her 17th goal this season.
“Obviously earning three points on this long road trip to Hawaii we’re really happy about the results,” said UCSB head coach Paul Stumpf. “Our team played great so it’s not only a good performance but a great win.”
UCSB returns to Harder Stadium on Nov. 1 for a match against UC Riverside at 7 p.m., with a Sunday home match against UC Irvine scheduled for 2 p.m.
