Passed peacefully on July 5th, 2013 at Samarkand Retirement Community in Santa Barbara, CA. Born on July 10th, 1925 to Asger and Ellen Myhre, he lived in Burien, WA and in San Diego, Palos Verdes and Santa Barbara, CA.
Herb was a graduate of the University of Washington and Dallas Theological Seminary. Following WWII and after serving in the Navy, Herb married Jean Benson and was the loving father (and grandfather) to Scott (Sarah, Graham and Aaron), Kathy (Leah and Tyler) and John (Rebecca and Katherine). Herb spent his career years as an aerospace engineer working on iconic projects: the Boeing 727, Super Sonic Transport, Atlas Rocket, and Grumman fighter plane.
After Jean’s death in 1992, Herb married Jane Trefts who survives him. Herb’s love for his lord and savior was continuous and strong. He faithfully served University Presbyterian in Seattle, La Jolla Presbyterian in San Diego and St. Peter’s Presbyterian in Palos Verdes.
