LOMPOC A plane crash Monday night near Lompoc Airport resulted in only a minor injury to the pilot, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 9:15 p.m., according to a Lompoc Police Department news release.
The pilot “crashed in a field east of the airport in the 1700 block of North H Street,” police said.
The pilot was the only person onboard the plane and only received a scratch on his hand. No other injuries or property damage were reported.
Police said the pilot was approaching the airport to land when the crash occurred.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation.
