The Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara is seeking nominations for the 2019 Extraordinary Educator Award.
Those eligible for nomination include teachers, therapists, assistants or anyone who works with the local special needs community. Nominations should include information about the instructor and reasons for the nomination, according to Melissa Fitch, spokeswoman for the association.
Nominations can be sent to Ms. Fitch at Melissa@dsasbc.org or by calling 805-886-4411. The deadline for nominations is Friday.
The award will be presented Oct. 11 at the 10th annual hoedown at the Santa Barbara Carriage Museum. Tickets are available online at dsasbc.org, the association’s Facebook page or at the door.
The event includes a barbecue dinner, live music from Dusty Jugz, a silent auction, activities and more. The event is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Adults tickets are $10 and children are $5.For more information, visit www.dsasbc.org.
