GOLETA An oil spill boom deployment drill will be held Wednesday at Goleta Beach.
The drill will be conducted by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the Department of California Fish and Wildlife’s Oil Spill Prevention Response Team and the U.S. Coast Guard. The multi-agency drill is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a news release.
The drill will utilize county fire resources and its water rescue equipment to disperse oil spill booms in response to a mock release of oil in the Goleta Beach area, said Capt. Daniel Bertucelli, fire spokesman.
Fire department equipment will remain on scene for the duration of the drill. No beach or road closures are anticipated.
