One person was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday morning on southbound Highway 101 just north of the Arroyo Quemada Bridge, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 7:41 a.m. A 2006 Ford Escape was traveling south in the No. 1 lane when it veered off the roadway and overturned. The driver, an adult male, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle came to rest on its left side, partially blocking the No. 1 lane and the center divider area. Foggy weather conditions were reported at the time of the crash, the CHP said.
The driver, whose identity was withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor.
