
The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating a Monday night shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured.
At approximately 10:35 p.m. police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 900 block of West Williams Street. Upon arrival, police encountered a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound and one of his family members outside the home, according to a department news release.
Officers learned the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with an adult family member. At some point during the dispute, the adult, identified as 56-year-old Ronald Enos, shot the juvenile and then shot himself.
The juvenile, whose name was withheld, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Mr. Enos was pronounced dead Tuesday night as a result of his injuries.
