LOMPOC One person was killed and two others were injured Friday in a head-on collision near State Route 1 and Santa Rosa Road just outside the Lompoc city limits, authorities said.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews, along with Lompoc City Fire personnel, were dispatched to the area at approximately 6:22 p.m. One person was declared dead at the scene and two others suffered significant injuries, said Capt. Daniel Bertucelli, fire spokesman.
One person suffered critical injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to the Lompoc Airport, where they were airlifted by Calstar helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other victim suffered moderate injuries and was also hospitalized. The names of those involved were withheld Friday night, authorities said.
Several traffic restrictions were in place following the collision. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
