One person suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Highway 101 just north of the Gaviota tunnel, authorities said.
The crash was reported at approximately 6:45 p.m. A vehicle was traveling north on the 101 when it crashed into the center guardrail and caught fire. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was able to remove themselves from the vehicle, said Capt. Daniel Bertucelli, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The driver was evaluated on scene after suffering minor injuries. It was unclear if they were transported to a hospital for further treatment. The car fire was quickly extinguished, Capt. Bertucelli said.
Several lanes of traffic were closed following the crash, the cause of which is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
