ORCUTT One person died and four others suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle collision involving a semi truck Friday on State Route 1 near the Rancho Maria Golf Club near Orcutt, authorities said.
The collision was reported around noon. Units on scene reported significant damage to one of the involved vehicles. The trailer to the truck had rolled over in the collision and an additional ambulance and a heavy-rescue team was requested out of Santa Maria, said Capt. Daniel Bertucelli, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Crews remained on scene for a time to clear the wreckage. The injured patients were transported by ground ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Both directions of SR 1 were closed for a time following the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
