SANTA MARIA One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Thursday near the intersection of Union Valley Parkway and California Boulevard in Santa Maria, police said.
The collision was reported at 5:05 p.m. One of the involved vehicles was traveling northbound on California Boulevard when it collided with another vehicle traveling eastbound on Union Valley Parkway.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, said acting Sgt. David Culver, spokesman for the Santa Maria Police Department.
No other injuries were reported and the circumstances on the collision were under investigation Thursday evening, police said.
The victims name was withheld pending next of kin notification, Sgt. Culver said.
Both roads were closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
