SANTA BARBARA An early morning crash on Highway 101 north of Los Carneros Road left a Goleta man dead Monday, authorities said.
According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 12:56 a.m.
Joseph Ordway, 27, was driving southbound in a black Chevrolet Silverado in the fast lane when his vehicle drifted and struck a guardrail, authorities said.
He turned right, into the slow lane, overcorrected to the left and lost control of the truck, which struck the guard rail again and then rolled a number of times, according to the CHP news release.
“The driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining major injuries,” the report reads.
Mr. Ordway died at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The CHP is investigating.
