Topa Topa Brewing Co. has selected Heal the Ocean as its 1% For the Planet partner through December. From now until the end of the year, HTO and Topa Topa will be hosting events at Topa Topa’s taprooms. The first event will be a film screening of “Crossing the Channel” and Q-and-A with marathon swimmer Rachel Horn and filmmaker Ryan Slattery from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at 120 Santa Barbara St.
Guests will include Rachel’s Relay Team, Marcie’s Mermaids, who will be swimming 19 miles across the Santa Barbara Channel on Sept. 19 in memory of Marcie Kjoller. Team members are Liz Boscacci, Hilary McAvoy, Chelsea Jones, Heather Royer and Emily Case.
During the 10-hour swim without wetsuits, they will be accompanied by a safety support team. Their goal is to raise $10,000 for HTO.
