Santa Barbara elder care attorney Dallas Leigh Atkins will give a lecture Wednesday to educate seniors on long-term care. She will discuss “Planning for Long-Term Care: Medi-Cal Facts and Myths” during her presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lompoc Valley Medical Center’s Ocean’s Seven Cafe, 1515 E. Ocean Ave. in Lompoc.
Her lecture is presented by the Community Education Committee of the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation.
Ms. Atkins, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, will speak about the differences in coverage between Medicare (for short-term rehab care) and Medi-Cal (long-term care).
Attendees will learn strategies for legal options and how to stay away from financial pitfalls; get educated about maintaining autonomy and dignity; and plan for all stages of life. Ms. Atkins has practiced law since 1977; she is also a marriage and family therapist.
