Was born June 7, 1919 in Detroit, MI and died on March 11 2013 in Santa Rosa CA at the age of 93. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Marshall G. Palmer Jr. in 1978. Anna is survived by her children Charles Palmer (Shari), Marshall J. Palmer (Mary Ellen), Jeanne Palmer (her partner, Vicki Gilliam), Janet Palmer, her grandchildren John Palmer, Dawn Brown, Patrick Palmer, Ryan Palmer and her great grandchildren Ashley Brown, Alaina Brown, and Andrew Palmer.
Anna was born in Detroit, MI and raised in Grosse Point, MI, a wealthy community outside of Detroit where her father was a professional chauffeur for several different families. She lived on these estates above the carriage house and was truly the “chauffeur’s daughter”. Anna graduated from Grosse Point Senior High. After graduation, she worked for the Town of Grosse Point as a secretary. During WWII she met Marshall G. Palmer Jr. while he was on leave from the war in the Pacific. They were married within one week after they met, not uncommon during WWII. Anna followed her husband to the West Coast where he was stationed at Santa Barbara CA. They lived in Santa Barbara from 1944 until 1966 when they moved to Rohnert Park. In 1974 Anna decided to start a career in Real Estate and earned her license. She worked at Century 21 in Rohnert Park until she retired in 1993. Anna will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her twinkling blue eyes.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Santa Rosa Convalescent Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during her stay there.
A celebration of Anna’s life will be held Friday April 19 at 11:00 am at Daniels Chapel of Roses at 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, CA. A reception will follow. If desired, memorial donations in Anna’s name may be made to The Salvation Army, 93 Stony Circle, Santa Rosa, CA 95401, or floral tributes may be sent for the service.
