GOLETA A female suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk Thursday night in the 5700 block of Calle Real in Goleta, authorities said.
The incident was reported around 8:46 p.m. on March 12. The driver of the vehicle, a full-size Chevrolet truck, remained on scene and was “cooperative,” though admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the collision, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
Following an evaluation, it was determined the driver was not under the influence and was “well under the legal limit for blood alcohol content,” said Raquel Zick, sheriff’s spokeswoman.
“He was released from the scene and the investigation is ongoing,” she said.
The pedestrian is expected to recover from her injuries. The names of the driver and pedestrian were withheld.
