1/28/1991 – 4/13/2013
Beloved son and brother, Sean Peinado, passed away April 13, 2013. A Santa Barbara native, Sean attended Monroe Elementary, Santa Barbara Junior High, and SBHS, class of 2009. He attended UC Berkeley as a music major and most recently was studying and playing jazz at SBCC.
Sean was blessed with the lifelong friendships of “the Dudes,” Matt Cassidy-Norris, Taylor Fitts, and Spencer Kelly, who first joined together in preschool and at Monroe. Other close friendships filled his life, as well, including honorary dudes such as Brandon, Taylor H., Spencer L., and cherished UC Berkeley friends Jake, Niel and Colette. One of Sean’s closest friends was his sister, Shea. “Purple Light,” they would joke to each other, a reference to the otherworldly siblings in Return to Witch Mountain.
Shea and parents Federico and Kelly Peinado cherish memories of our years with Sean, including our many (Sean sometimes complained too many) trips to Yosemite and Uruguay and destinations such as “the wild West,” Canada, the UK, and Kennedy family reunions in West Virginia.
Sean is survived by his uncle Alejandro Peinado, aunt Veronica Peinado, and first cousins Flo, Ale, Seb, and Phi, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Kennedy/Devlin side. Also remaining are his great aunt Sylvia and Peinado grandparents Nancy and Coco in Montevideo, Uruguay, and godfather Herbert Schulte of Santa Barbara. Preceding Sean in death were grandparents Mary Anne and Bill Devlin, Grandma Martha and Grandpa Tom Hebblethwaite, and his beloved Nana, Irene Schulte.
A celebration of Sean’s life and music, attended by more than 250 people, was held on April 21 in beautiful Godric Grove at Elings Park. We are grateful for the help and skill of the many friends who joined in organizing this profound and uplifting tribute.
Sean, you could not have been more loved.
