You can strike it rich with this gold Nugget.
In this case, Nugget is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/terrier mix who’s awaiting adoption at the Santa Maria Animal Center.
Nugget is 12 pounds of sheer love. She enjoys giving kisses to everyone and makes a great couch potato buddy. Plus, she gets along well with other small dogs and is house-trained.
True to her name, Nugget has soft gold fur.
The affectionate dog is doing well today after her recovery from a collision.
She was hit by a car on Aug. 15, and her pelvis and femur were broken. She received medical treatment through the Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation.
To meet Nugget, call the Santa Maria Animal Center, 934-6119, or stop by the shelter, 548 W. Foster Road, Santa Maria. The shelter is part of Santa Barbara County Animal Services.
If you love dogs but can’t have a pet, the animal care foundation recommends you volunteer at your local shelter.
The foundation provides lifesaving funds to aid injured, sick and neglected animals at the three Santa Barbara County Animal Services shelters. It also provides education and affordable spay/neuter assistance. For more information, call the foundation at 805-260-2386 or go to www.sbcanimalcare.org or write SBCACF, P.O. Box 86, Goleta 93116.
