Nolan Lundgaard, an honors student with a grade-point of more than 4.0 at Providence, also excels in track and cross country for the Patriots. His positive and nurturing attitude is one of his greatest qualities, Providence coach Evan Coville said.
“One, he’s a gifted encourager,” he pointed out. “Two, he’s always grateful – it’s incredible how thankful he can be when he’s running up a hill at the start of the third mile. And three, he’s always humble.
“I have seen Nolan on multiple occasions, after finishing a race … say to the guy behind him in the chute, ‘Great race! Really good job! Thanks for racing with me!’ He’ll often say, ‘You helped me get to where I am.’
“And he’ll say to the guy who finished in front of him, ‘Great job! Really good race!’”
He is especially supportive of his teammates, Coville added.
“He’ll ask them, ‘How’d you do? How’d that feel for you?’” he said. “It shows that he truly cares about his teammates.”
