Thomas Kinzler, a junior who plays both basketball and baseball for the Royals, is an honors student with a cumulative grade-point average of 4.64.
He serves as president of San Marcos’ Christian Athletes Club and is a Link Crew leader, mentoring freshmen four days a week.
He also volunteers at his church with elementary school children; with the Challengers baseball and basketball program in service of special needs athletes, and with the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission.
Kinzler has served as a captain during both his freshman and sophomore years in the San Marcos baseball and basketball programs.
“He is an example of a student-athlete that puts character, respect, love, hard work and team above all else,” Royals baseball coach Jacob Pepper said. “He’s not only competitive and plays the game the right way, but he adds so many intangibles to a program.
“His ability to lead, communicate with teammates and coaches, his commitment and composure all make him a vital part to a program’s success.”
