SANTA MARIA The Santa Maria Police Department made nine arrests during a DUI checkpoint Friday night and Saturday morning in the 1400 block of Broadway.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, while the other eight were “cited/arrested” for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license.
Police screened 388 vehicles during the checkpoint from 6 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
