SANTA BARBARA Police officers have located the suspect of a Wednesday morning assault.
According to a report from the Santa Barbara Police Department, officers arrested Santa Barbara resident Leo Burl Butner, 40, for a parole violation on Friday.
On further investigation, SBPD detectives requested he be arraigned for three felonies related to the attack.
At 9:16 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the railroad tracks at the intersection of Bath Street and Montecito Street to investigate reports of an assault of an adult female. The victim suffered a serious head injury police officials say.
“The subsequent investigation gleaned the alleged male suspect was not known to the victim. Santa Barbara Police Crimes Against Persons Detectives took over the priority investigation,” said SBPD spokesman Anthony Wagner in a statement on the case.
Mr. Butner is being held in County Jail on $500,000 bail. He was booked on allegations of assault with a deadly weapon, battery with great bodily harm, and a great bodily harm enhancement.
