SANTA BARBARA The Santa Barbara Police Department will conduct a pedestrian safety enforcement operation on Monday.
Police will be on the lookout for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians, who speed and make illegal turns, along with pedestrians who jaywalk or are distracted while walking, according to a news release.
“Drivers and pedestrians should be looking out for one another and not down at their phone,” according to the news release. “When it comes to roadway safety, they share equal responsibility.”
The operation is a part of Santa Barbara’s Vision Zero, which seeks to reduce and eventually eliminate all fatal collisions.
