83, passed away on January 7, 2014 at her home in Santa Barbara, CA. She was born on September 2,1930 in Rockford, Illinois to Florence and Eric Schill.
In 1955 Alma met her future husband, Tom Powell,while attending church services at Grace Church in Santa Barbara, CA. They married on September 30,1956 at El Montecito Presbyterian Church inMontecito, CA. They were happily married for 57 years. Together they enjoyed antiquing, traveling and cruising the world.
Alma is survived by her husband Tom of Santa Barbara, her daughters Kathy Calzada of Santa Barbara and Janet Lombardi of Petaluma, Ca.; her grandchildren Derek Calzada, Steven Calzada, Anastasia Forssell and Brandon Forssell. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Eric Schill, andher son, Mark Powell.
A funeral service will be held at Welch-Ryce-Haider Downtown Chapel,located at 15 East Sola Street, at noon on Friday, January 10th. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am to noon at Welch-Ryce-Haider. Burial will follow the funeral at Goleta Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
